De Amerikaanse journalist James Foley komt ten lange leste de man met de hamer het mes tegen. Een ontmoeting met de vreselijke waarheid van Syrië/Irak die hem helaas fataal werd. Onthoofd door diegenen waarvan hij dacht dat het zijn vrienden waren…
James Foley behoorde tot de nieuwe lichting activisten die zichzelf journalisten plegen te noemen. Hij reisde niet naar het oorlogsgebied om een verhaal te verslaan, maar om een agenda te promoten. En die agenda wordt duidelijk uit zijn Twitter-feed.
Elk verloren mensenleven is tragisch, maar een moreel individu zou veel meer empathie hebben voor de Syrische christenen die lijden in de handen van Foley’s favoriete jihadisten van IS [ISIS], van wie hij tot dan één van hun knuffelpropagandisten was.
Voor het merendeel werden de Syrische christenen door Foley enkel vernoemd wanneer hij de mythe promootte dat de soennitische jihadisten in feite een seculiere democratie-minnende macht was die christenen en Koerden onder gelijke voorwaarden in zich had opgenomen.
Foley kwam naar Syrië ter ondersteuning van de soennitische islamitische rebellen van IS tegen de Syrische regering. Hij was een felle aanhanger van hen en terwijl hij zich niet noodzakelijkerwijze identificeerde met een bepaalde groep, herhaalde hij het eenzijdige verhaal van de ene kant in plaats van de waarheid te vertellen over de islamisten. Zijn Twitter-feed bulkt van spontane oproepen om de jihadisten te bewapenen.
Intussen haalde hij uit de War on Terror (oorlog aan de terreur) van zijn land de Verenigde Staten..
Hij juichte de strijd van de soennitische islamitische terroristen toe wanneer ze Aleppo etnisch zuiverden van de Christenen. In het conflict tussen Israël en Hamas, puilen zijn tweets en retweets uit van pro-Soennitische Syrische terroristische propaganda.
Toen het Amerikaanse weekblad Newsweek hoofdartikel ‘Muslim Rage’ (Islam Woede) uitkwam, dreef Foley er de spot mee. Woedende moslims. Hoe dom en islamofobisch.
